Step-by-Step Guide

Here's What You Do

Narrow your choice of schools down to six.
Apply for admission.
Request a financial aid packet.
Figure out which forms and deadlines apply to each school.
Complete the FAFSA and submit it. Your FAFSA data will be sent to the colleges you list on your FAFSA.
Watch your mailbox. You’ll soon get a Student Aid Report (SAR), confirming the information on your FAFSA. It's used to determine your Federal loan eligibility.
Make sure all the info on your SAR is correct. If anything is wrong, contact your financial aid office to determine if you need to make corrections yourself or if you college will make the correction for you.
Go back to the mailbox. When accepted to the college, you’ll be notified of the financial aid you are eligible to receive from your school. Read all information your college sends you. Follow their direction to accept your financial aid.
Enter your bank's assigned lender code onyour college’s financial aid notice as well as on your Master Promissory Note. If you do not have a preferred bank, enter the BrainScratch lender code, 833548, on Line 9 of the Master Promissory Note.
