Step-by-Step Guide

Here's What You Do

Make sure your child narrows their choice of schools down to six.
Have your child apply for admission.
Request a financial aid packet.
Figure out which forms each school requires, as well as all deadlines (schools differ).
Complete the FAFSA and submit it to the Department of Education (you can also apply online).
Watch your mailbox. You’ll get a report in the mail called a Student Aid Report (SAR), confirming the information on your FAFSA. The SAR is used to determine your Federal loan eligibility.
Make sure all the info on your SAR is correct.
Submit your financial aid application to the school of your child's choice.
Back to the mailbox. You’ll be getting an award packet in the mail from your school.
Enter the BrainScratch lender code, 833548, on Line 9 of the Master Promissory Note.
Sign the financial aid acceptance papers and submit them to your child's school.
Relax. Use BrainScratch.com to monitor your account or answer questions.
